Wong Amat Beach is a 1.5 km long lesser-known beach in the north of Pattaya Beach. This beach has a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere compared to the main beach of Pattaya. The beach has a more upscale atmosphere with many luxury hotels and condominiums lining the beachfront area.
The beach is located in the Na Kluea neighborhood, which is packed with tourist amenities such as restaurants, bars, massage shops, travel agents, and local markets. Like most parts of Pattaya, lots of services in this area target Russian tourists with menus in both Thai and Russian.

Where is Wong Amat Beach?
Wong Amat Beach is a 1.5km long beach located in the Naklua area, between Pattaya Beach (in the south) and Sanctuary of Truth (in the north). The beach is known for its tranquil atmosphere and is a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of Pattaya and Jomtien Beach.
How to get to Wong Amat Beach?
The beach is easily reachable through paved roads. Depending on your starting location, you can get to the beach by walking, taking a Baht Bus, motorbike taxi, or using rideshare services such as Grab or Bolt.
Walking
It is a bit of a long walk but it is possible to walk from Pattaya Beach to Wong Amat Beach, especially if you like walking. Depending on where you are staying in Pattaya Beach, the distance from your location to Wong Amat Beach can range from 2 km to 7 km.
I stayed at Red Planet Pattaya in North Pattaya which is around 2.6km from Wong Amat Beach. I walked along the Beach Road, explored Pattaya North Beach and the cape, then continued walking along Naklua Main Road and Soi 18 to get to the beach.
Grab, Bolt, motorbike taxi
This is a convenient option for quick and easy access to the beach. You can install these reiding shared services such as Grab and Bolt in your phone and request a ride to Wong Amat Beach.
If you are solo travelers, you can consider using Grab Bike instead of Grab Taxi for cheaper options. Grab Bikes sometimes can beat the traffic. I used Grab Bike when I got back from the Naklua area to my hotel in North Pattaya. It was quite a reasonable price, only 35 baht. I didn’t have to bargain with the driver.
Baht Bus
Baht Bus is a public songthaews, which are pickup trucks with a covered roof and two rows in the back for passengers to sit. Each ride is around 10-20 baht. You pay directly to the driver. To catch the bus, you can stand on the side of the road and flag them down on their route.
If you want a cheaper option than a private taxi and quicker than walking, you can consider taking the Bath Bus along 2nd Road toward the north and get off at Dolphin Roundabout.
At the Dolphin Circle, you have two options. Option 1 is to walk to Naklua road and wait for another Baht Bus head north and get off at Naklua road Soi 18.
Option 2 is walk straight to the beach, by following Naklua road and turn left at Naklua Soi 18 to get to the beach. The walk is around 20 minutes in total.
The 3 Areas of Wong Amat Beach
#1. South Wong Amat Beach (left of Naklua Soi 18)
The south section of Wong Amat Beach is my favorite section of this 1.5km long beach. You can find this section by walking to the end of Naklua Soi 18 then turn left. This area is a great place to chill and find cheap seafood dishes.
When you first turn left from Soi 18, you will see several long tail boats on the beach and small stalls on the shore from local fishermen selling sushi, sashimi, and all kinds of fresh seafood. The price is quite cheap, around 100 baht per box.
If you continue walking to the south, you will see more restaurants with bed chairs and umbrellas. At high tide, the table and chair are set right on the water, so your feet will be put into the water when sitting there, which I feel is very cool.
You can rent bed chairs and umbrellas, and mat from the beach vendors. You can eat at their restaurant to be able to use it for free. This area is very chill with lots of shade from the trees.
There are also several beach vendors walking along the beach selling jewelry, swimming suits, and local Thai street food such as Son Tum and grilled dry squids.
Lots of local groups bring their own food and beach mats to this area to have a picnic together. People come here to chill, sunbathe, picnic, swim, and take photos.
The more you walk toward the south the quieter the beach is. There are still several beachfront bars, restaurants, massage shops along the way.
You can walk all the way along the coast from Naklua Soi 18 toward south for around 1 km to North Pattaya Beach. You can see several rocky outcrops on the beach where locals fish.
#2. Central Wong Amat Beach (right of Naklua Soi 18 from Centara to Pull Man)
The central area of Wong Amat Beach is less shaded compared to the South part of the Beach. Unlike the south, there are safe swimming areas surrounded by fence in this area.
You can find lots of popular hotels and high rise Condominiums along the central area of the beach. Some famous hotels in this area are the Centara Grand Mirage resort and Pullman Hotel.
There are some popular beach bars and restaurants here including the Surf & Turf Beach Club & Restaurant, The Beach Club, or The Glass House Silver.
There are bed chairs and umbrellas along the beach that belong to the beachfront resorts, restaurants, and bars. You can pay to use it or just bring your own mat to the beach.
The beach has white fine sand and clean water. It is suitable for both children and adults. Lots of kids playing on the beach.
#3. North Wong Amat Beach (south of Sanctuary of Truth)
Let’s say the North part of the beach is from Surf & Turf Beach Club to the Sanctuary of Truth. This area is quieter than the central and the south. There are lots of private properties north of the beach with “No trespassing” signs.
Some popular restaurants and bars in this area include the Bamboo Beach restaurant and the S’more Beach Cafe. They have a very nice setting in front of the beach.
You can walk along the coast toward the north, passing the rocky outcrop, then reaching an area that has views of Sanctuary of Truth. The coastal walk stops until you reach the wall of Sanctuary of Truth. You can enter the Sanctuary of Truth from this side and have to walk back to get to the main road.
What to do at Wong Amat Beach?
Swimming
There are lots of designated swimming zones in Wong Amat Beach, especially the central area of the beach. The beach is also kid-friendly. It is more crowded in the center and less people swimming in the north and south of the beach.
If you want to avoid crowds, head to either north and south. In my opinion, The south is better than the north, because it has lots of shade and lots of seafood options.
Water Sports: jet skiing, banana boating
In addition to swimming, you can try water sport activities such as jet skiing and banana boating. These services can be found at the central section of Wong Amat Beach.
Take a stroll walk along the beach
If you love coastal walks, you can walk along the beach. I spent a whole day on the beach walking all its length from North Pattaya Beach to the wall of Sanctuary of Truth. Lots of interesting things to see along the walk.
Enjoy the seafood at Sashimi Secret Beach Naklua 18
This seafood area located in South Wong Amat Beach is a must visit for seafood lovers. The fishmend sell fresh dishes with a very reasonable price. You can choose fresh seafood from the vendor’s tanks. It is easy to find, just on the left side of Naklua Soi 18.
Enjoy the views of Sanctuary of Truth from the sea
While you can enter the famous Sanctuary of Truth by walking along the coast of Wong Amat Beach, you can have beautiful views of these wooden complexes at the northern part of the beach.
To reach the Sanctuary of Truth, you need to detour to the main roads of Naklua neighborhood, then take a taxi or motorbike taxi to reach the temple.
Explore Na Kluea neighborhood
Na Kluea is a lively neighborhood near Wong Amat beach. This area is an upscale area with lots of high rise apartment rentals in high end resorts. You can find all tourist amenities from every corner of Na Kluea, from small alleys to its main roads.
You will likely pass Naklua Soi 18 when getting to Wong Amat beach from Pattaya Beach. This soi is packed with restaurants, massage shops, bars, travel agents, motorbike rentals, and convenience stores.
Naklua Soi 16, aka Pho Samphan Allay, is also a popular area in Naklua. You can find the lively Scout Food Camp 3 near the Tops Daily Naklua Soi 16 with lots of reasonably priced restaurants, and shops.

This is a popular beachfront hotel located right on the beach, in the central area of Wong Amat beach. The complex is home to a water theme park, which is ideal for families with kids. The resort has all modern amenities such as restaurants, pools, and bars. You can choose rooms that have ocean views.
Pullman Pattaya Hotel G
Pullman is a luxury resort located in the Central part of Wong Amat Beach. It has multiple swimming pools as well as direct access to the beach. The Beach Club Restaurant is a popular restaurant on this beach. If you are looking for a relaxing five star stay right on the beach, Pullman is a good choice.
Cape Dara Resort
This is a popular beachfront hotel located in the quiet area of South Wong Amat beach. You can easily get to the beach and range of amenities such as restaurants, bars, and shops. If you are looking for a quiet stay right on the beach, this is an excellent option.
