Where is Surin Beach?
Surin is located between Kamala Beach and Bang Tao Beach. It is located around 22km south of Phuket International Airport, 13km north of Patong, and 25km north west of Phuket Old Town.
Surin is right next to a small beautiful beach called Haad Laem Sing. These two beaches are connected to each other by a beautiful rocky coastal trail, around 15 minutes walk apart.
Why Should You Stay in Surin Beach?
1. Good beach and tranquil atmosphere
Surin is home to the 800m long beach with white sand and clean water. The beach has a relaxing atmosphere and is a good spot for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. You can surf at the northern and southern area of the beach during low season from May to October.
Surin Beach has a good range of amenities like sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bars and restaurants. The beach road is also home to many vendors selling street food and souvenirs.
From Surin, you can walk along the coast for around 15 minutes to reach another secluded beach called, Haad Laem Sing. This little beach is a great spot for relaxing, swimming, and snorkeling.
Bang Bao Beach and Kamala Beach are also just a few minutes drive away to the north and south of Surin, offering more opportunities to enjoy beach activities.
2. Good amenities without being overwhelming
You can easily find a range of tourist amenities on the beach road and inside the town in the streets like Soi Haad Surin 8, Soi Haad Surin 6,… The area is home to a good selection of restaurants, bars, shops, convenient stores, travel agencies. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay!

Surin is a small beach town but is home to several big brand resorts and apartments such as Outrigger, The Surin, Twinpalms, Amanpuri, The Chava,… If you are looking for something luxurious, this area is a good base in Phuket.
4. Relatively close to the airport
Compared to other popular beaches in the south like Karon or Kata, Surin is located relatively close to the airport. It is just 23 km away from the airport, which is around 30-60 minutes taxi drive depending on the traffic.
Phuket is notorious for its traffic jams, so staying near the airport helps reduce time and cost of traveling between the airport and your hotel.
You can use metered taxis, Grab taxis, or even take the smart bus ride to get from Phuket airport to Surin Beach. The bus stop can be found near the intersection between Surin Soi 8 and the 4030 road.
Downside of Staying in Surin Beach
Surin has a decent range of restaurants, bars, and shops, but it doesn’t have big shopping malls like in some other places around Phuket. This beach town also has laid‑back evenings. If you want buzzing bars, clubs, it is better to base yourself in places like Patong.
Surin is still relatively far from the beaches and attractions in South Phuket. It will require more time and money in transportation to visit these places. Additionally, Phuket also has a reputation for heavy traffic, you might be stuck in traffic to get to other towns.
Best areas to stay in Surin Beach
The Surin area includes the 800m long beach, the beach promenade, and the village. Surin village includes networks of Soi (small alleys) like Soi Haad Surin 8, Soi Haad Surin 6,…, and part of the island’s main road 4030.
There are also almost no resorts located direction on the beachfront area of Surin Beach. You can find The Surin Resort on the beachfront area of Pansea Beach, right north of Surin.
The closest road to the beach is Soi Haad Surin 8, which runs parallel to the shore and is about 200 meters away. Lots of resorts and hotels are located on this road and other roads in Surin Village.
Surin Beach is lined with casuarina trees on the shore. There are also many bedchairs and umbrellas for rent on the sand. You can drive the scooter all the way down to beach road and park on the side of the road.
The beach promenade is lined with restaurants, bars with terraces, and lots of stalls selling local food, seafood, clothes, and souvenirs. You can buy inexpensive snacks, smoothies, and cut fruits while on the beach. There are Thai massage parlors along the beach road.

1. The Surin Phuket
The Surin resort is one of the best places to stay in Surin. It is a 5-star resort located on the tranquil beachfront area of Pansea Beach, near the northern end of Surin Beach. You will have direct access to a private beach for swimming.
The resort also has a nice swimming pool area overlooking the sea. There are lots of sunbeds and umbrellas on the sand and around the pool. You can choose the family cottage room if you are traveling with kids, there are also villa options with a private pool.
The resort is set on a hill so there will be stairs up and down to the beach and the room. You can avoid this by booking a room at the lobby level. They also have a Buggy service to get around.
2. Outrigger Surin Beach Resort
This is a good upscale hotel in Surin Village, an easy distance to Surin Beach and all other tourist amenities like restaurants, 7-Eleven, and shops. The resort has 60 comfortable rooms, and all necessary facilities like swimming pool, gym, spa, onsite restaurant and bar.
They have rooms for couples, families, and solo travelers. You can book rooms with pool access for the best experiences.
3. Twinpalms Surin Beach
Twinpalms is a nice high end resort in Surin Village, a few minutes walk to the beach. It has beautiful ground with lots of palm trees and tropical feels. There is an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, as well as dining areas with both inside and outside settings.
The resort has a lovely breakfast with a wide selection of fresh fruit and cooked food. There are numerous restaurants and shops within walking distance from the resort.
4. The Chava Resort
This resort offers spacious apartment style accommodations with a bed room, living room, and nice balcony area. Its spaciousness is perfect for a family with kids, or a group of friends. It has a pretty central location in Surin, within walking distance to the beach, as well as restaurants and shops.

This is a 4-star mid-range resort located in Surin Village, within a few minutes walk from Surin Beach. The resort has all facilities for a comfortable stay like an outdoor pool, good-size rooms, a gym, and a restaurant serving both delicious Western and Thai meals.
6. Surintra Boutique Resort
This 3-star budget-friendly resort is located in a peaceful location on Hat Surin Soi 8, in the northern area of Surin Beach. It is within a few minutes walking distance to the beach and is also close to various tourist amenities such as restaurants, massage shops, and convenient stores.
Like many other resorts around the island and in Surin, this beach resort has beautiful tropical ground and a small pool where you can relax and swim.
7. Surin Bay Inn
This 2-star cozy family-run guest house is a budget-friendly option in Surin Beach. It is conveniently located on the Beach Road, around 200m from the beachfront area. There are also numerous restaurants and shops on the street where the hotel is located.
If you are looking for a good value for money hotel in Surin, Surin Bay Inn is an excellent choice. They have a spacious room with a balcony with a comfortable bed. Easy access to the bus stop for catching the smart bus to get to the airport and other beaches like Patong, Kamala, Karon, and Kata.
