Relax Bay is a small, quiet beach on the west coast of Koh Lanta, not far from Long Beach and Klong Khong Beach. It’s not as popular as other long beaches around Koh Lanta, but a great place to visit if you travel around the island on a scooter.

Where is Relax Bay, Koh Lanta?
Relax Bay is located on the west coast of Koh Lanta about 15 minutes drive south of Sala Dan Pier and the island’s main village. The beach is between the two long beaches, Phra Ae Beach in the north, and Klong Khong Beach in the south.
From the southern end of Phra Ae Beach, you can drive for 5 minutes to reach Relax Bay. South of Relax Bay is Secret Beach, Beautiful Beach, and Klong Khong Beach.
Relax Bay is around 350m west of the island’s main road 4245. This road connected the Sala Dan Village, to Klong Dao, Long Beach, Klong Khong, Klong Nin, and Koh Lanta Old Town.
What’s on Relax Bay, Koh Lanta?
Relax Bay is around 460m long beach, with white sand and shallow water. There are lots of big rocks on the northern end of the beach near Relax Bay resort. The beach is great for swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, and watching the sunset.
Beachfront Resorts
The beachfront is lined with resorts and bungalows. These places offer onsite beach bars and restaurants for their guests and visitors. From north to south, you will see Relax Bay Resort, Lanta Casa Blanca, Sea Culture, RelaxBeachHouse, and New Andaman Bay Bungalow.
Restaurants/ bars
The beach is lined with a handful of lovely beachfront bars, restaurants, and massage parlors. Some of them belong to the beachfront resorts, while others are independent places.
On the northern half of the beach, you can dine at the restaurant and bar at Relax Bay Resort and the restaurant at Casa De Playa Resort. On the southern half of the beach, you can check out LaeLay Restaurant, Fusion Beach Bar, The Sol Cafe, Korner Beach Bar, or Up to You.
Most places have open-air seating with bamboo tables, chairs, sunbeds, on the sand with fire shows sometimes featured in the evening. These are great places for sunset views and chill. Some beach bars stay open till early morning, offering good DJs on Fridays.
Sunbeds and Umbrellas
The beach has little natural shade but restaurants, bars, and resorts along the beach provide umbrellas and sunbeds for their guests and customers. You can use sun umbrellas free of charge, if you buy a drink or a meal at the restaurant/bar.
How to get to Relax Bay, Koh Lanta?
I got to the beach from Long Beach by following the road to Relax Bay resort. You can also access the beach from Main Road 4245 by turning onto the road opposite Lanta Happy Hill Resort toward LaeLay Restaurant.
The best way to get to Relax Beach is by renting a scooter. The Scooter is around 250-300 baht a day. You can take tuk tuk and songthaews if you stay nearby but it can be very expensive if you stay further away from the beach.
From nearby popular beaches such as Long Beach and Klong Khong Beach, you can walk to Relax Bay. From the southern end of Long beach, you can walk for 10 minutes to reach Relax Bay.
From the northern end of Klong Khong Beach, you can walk along the coast to get to Relax Bay. Along the path, you will pass some beautiful beaches such as Tricky-Trocky, Beautiful Beach, and Secret Beach.
Things to do in Relax Bay, Koh Lanta
Swimming, sunbathing, and chilling
It is called Relax Bay due to its quiet, relaxing atmosphere, making it a good spot for relaxing. You can bring your own beach towel to the beach, or use the sunbeds from the beachfront restaurants and bars.
It has the best swimming conditions during high tide. You can see the rocks at the bottom at low tide, so bring aqua shoes with you.
Dine at the beachfront restaurants, bars
The restaurants and bars along the beach mostly serve Thai food, with prices similar to those you’ll find around the island. These are best to visit at sunset, but you can enjoy any time of the day, and some bars stay open late till early morning.
Having a relaxing massage on the beach
There are several massage parlors along the beach, so you can have try traditional Thai massage or oil massage with the views of the beach. The price for a traditional Thai massage is around 400 baht per person.
Walk down to Secret Beach, Beautiful Beach, and Tricky-Trocky Beach
At the southern end of Relax Beach, you can find the way to the more secluded beach called Secret Beach. From Secret Beach, you can head down to Beautiful Beach, Tricky-Trocky Beach, and Klong Khong Beach. If you like exploring and hiking, it’s a good trail to look at.
Where to stay in Relax Bay: Best areas and Hotels
There are two main areas to stay in Relax Bay, which include the beachfront area and the area around the main road running parallel with Relax Bay.
If you want to stay right on the beach, there are a handful of nice resorts on the beachfront for you to choose from. If you’re on a budget, you can choose to stay around the main road 4245, which is around 10 minutes walk to the beach.
1. Relax Bay Beachfront
The beachfront is home to several resorts where you can have direct access to the beach. There are also a handful of restaurants and bars along the beach and you can walk to the main road for more convenience stores and shops.
Best Hotels in Relax Bay Beachfront:
Lanta Casa Blanca
This 4-star mid-range resort is located in the central area of Relax Bay. It’s a large complex with an outdoor swimming pool and spacious rooms. The resort is a short walk to a range of restaurants and bars. It’s also a good overall base to explore Koh Lanta Yai.
Relax Bay Beach Resort
This 3-star resort is located in the northern area of Relax Bay, in a quiet area, away from noisy bars and restaurants. The resort has a nice beachfront restaurant/ bar, as well as yoga classes. You can easily walk for 10-15 minutes to the 7-Eleven and Long Beach.
Lazy Days Bungalows
This accommodation is located at the southern end of Relax Bay, an easy walk to the beach. The hotel offers a nice beachfront cabin with all essential facilities such as air conditioning, private bathroom, and fridge.
2. Relax Bay Main Road
The main road 4245 runs around the island passing Relax Bay. It’s located around 450m from the beach. There are numerous hotels along the main road and the roads between the main road and Relax Bay. It’s usually cheaper to book a hotel away from the beach, so if you’re on a budget, this area is a good choice.
Some local points of interest located near Relax Bay main road include Lanta Animal Welfare Visitor Centre and Lanta Muay Thai Academy. You will find all tourist amenities along the main road like travel agencies, massage shops, restaurants, cages, scooter rentals.
Best hotels in Relax Bay Main Road:
Lanta Happy Hill
This is a love family-run resort located near Relax Bay and Long Beach. It has a beautiful ground with wooden bungalows, and lush gardens. The rooms are clean with comfortable mattresses. You can walk to the beach, restaurants, and scooter rental shops.
Baan Suan Rim Klong Resort
This lovely resort has spacious rooms for families and couples. It has a nice swimming pool and you can walk to Relax Bay within 10 minutes. Long Beach and Klong Khong are within a short drive away. It has a central location on the west coast, which is a good base to explore all the beaches around Lanta.
Arthaya Villas
This is a beautiful property with an onsite pool and restaurant serving lovely dishes. They have good-size villas and are a short distance from Beautiful Beach and Relax Bay.

Relax Bay is a good stop when beach hopping around Koh Latan Yai on a scooter. The Beachfront and the main road behind the beach also has some cool resorts and hotels if you want to stay near Relax Bay. It’s overall a great spot for relaxing and unwind.
