Loh Pared Beach is a popular beach in Koh Yai Yai. This area is the tourist hub of the island, home to some of the island’s most popular resorts and hotels. The beach town has a higher concentration of restaurants, and tourist shops compared to other areas of Koh Yai Yai.
This 1.2km long beach has white sand, calm water, and a peaceful atmosphere. The beach is great for swimming, sunbathing, and taking a stroll along the shore. It’s the most popular beach on the island to watch the sunset.
The shore is lined with a handful of resorts, bars, and seafood restaurants. There are trees along the shore that give plenty of natural shade, with big leaves scattered on the sand.
There are tables, chairs, bean bags on the sand from the beachfront establishments. You can have meals and drinks at these places and watch the sun going down.
In this article, I will show you the location of Loh Pared Beach, how to get to, things to do at Loh Pared, and where to stay in Loh Pared Beach.

How to get to Loh Pared Beach, Koh Yao Yai?
If you’re already in Koh Yai Yai island, you can reach Loh Pared Beach by local pick up songthaews, or rental scooter. There are no republic buses, or riding share services such as Bolt, Grab, or InDrive on Koh Yao Yai.

Koh Yao Yai has four main piers, which include Chong Lard and Klong Hia on the north, and Loh Jark and Laem Yai Pier on the south west coast of the island.
Speed boats and ferries from other islands on Andaman Sea such as Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe, and Ao Nang/ Krabi arrived at Yao Yai at one of these piers.
If you’re coming from Phuket, it’s better to get ferries to either Loh Jark and Laem Yai Pier because these are closest piers to Loh Pared, and you can save on a taxi to travel from the pier to your hotel. You can bring vehicles (cars or scooters) from Phuket on a ferry to Laem Yai Pier.
From one of the four main piers on Koh Yao Yai, you can take local songthaews to your hotels in Loh Pared. You can ask your hotel to arrange the pick up for you or buy the combination of boat and taxi ticket from the boat company.
Around the piers, there are motorbike rental shops, where you can rent a scooter and drive to your hotel. The price of a scooter is around 250-300baht a day, which is much cheaper than taking local songthaews (which is not always available like other popular islands in Thailand).
I stayed in Ban Chong Lard village and Laem Haad Beach on the north coast of the island, then rented a scooter to visit Loh Pared on a day trip.
Things to do on Loh Pared Beach, Koh Yao Yai?
Swimming, sunbathing, relaxing

Loh Pared is a great place for swimming, sunbathing, relaxing, and trolling along the shore. The lake has shallow and calm water, which is good for both children and adults to swim. It has the best conditions for swimming at high tide, but you can also swim at low tide.
For a quieter atmosphere you can walk further south of the beach. The central area of the beach around Royal Yao Yai Island Beach Resort is busier than other parts as it is the main access to the beach.
Most hotels and resorts along the beachfront have sunbeds and umbrellas for their guests. Some beach bars have lounge chairs and sunbeds for rent and most restaurants have tables and chairs for their customers. I recommend bringing your own beach towel so you can lie down anywhere along the beach.
Watching the sunset

Loh Pared Beach is probably the most popular spot on Koh Yao Yai to watch the sunset. Sunset is also the most popular time to visit Loh Pared Beach.
Both locals and tourists gather at the beach watching the sun go down and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The sunset is also great for taking photos.
Check out the beachfront bars, and seafood restaurants

The 1.2km long beach is lined with a handful of beach bars, and sea food restaurants. You can check out these places for a drink, meal with sea views and for the use of lounge chairs.
At the intersection with the main road, you can find Mama’s Seafood restaurant. The restaurant served traditional Thai food and sea food with tables and chairs on the sand. They don’t serve alcoholic beverages, so you can have smoothies or cold fresh coconut water.
To the southern part of the beach, you can have alcohol drinks at Yao Yai Beach Club and Gypsy’s Bar. These places are closed late at night, so you can chill on the beach both day and night.
The Northern part of Loh Pared is the luxury Santhiya resort with its multiple beachfront restaurants and bars such as By The Sea Restaurant & Bar and Jetinn Sunset at Pier. These places have a more upscale atmosphere than the restaurants and piers at the southern part of the beach.
Having a beach massage
Like most beaches around Thailand, there are massage parlors on Loh Pared Beach. You can enjoy a relaxing massage under the shaded area and feel the breeze of the sea.
These massage shops offer both Thai and aroma massages. It usually costs around 300-350 baht per hour. You can try traditional Thai massage, oil massage, whole body massage, or foot massage.
