How to get to Klong Nin Beach?
The island’s main pier is Sala Dan Pier, located on the northern coast of Koh Lanta. Most speed boats from other islands in Andaman sea will arrive at Sala Dan when they arrive at Koh Lanta. From the pier, you can take local songthaew taxis to get to Klong Nin Beach.

You can ask your hotel to arrange the transport for you. Some hotels offer free transport within the accommodations package. Some boat companies also sell combo tickets that include boat and transfer from the pier to the hotel in Klong Nin.
The taxi on Lanta island is quite expensive. It costs around 700-800 baht for a private taxi for 15km between Sala Dan Pier and Klong Nin beach. If you share the ride with other people, it can cost 200 baht per ride. The boat company usually charges 100 baht extra for transfer from the pier to your hotel.
Another way to get to Klong Nin Beach is to rent a scooter. There are plenty of scooter renter shops around the island, in main areas such as Sala Dan Pier, Klong Dao, Klong Khong, Long Beach, or Kantiang Bay. The rent is cheap, around 250-300 baht per day.
Overview of Klong Nin Beach
Khlong Nin is a 2.5km long beach that has white coarse sand and calm water. The beach is lined with restaurants and bars with plenty of sunbeds, umbrellas, tables, chairs, and bean bags on the sand.

The beach is wide and the trees are located far away from the water. To use the shades, you’ll likely have to rent bed chairs, or order drinks or meals from the beachfront restaurants and bars for free use of sunbeds.
The beach runs parallel with the beach road, Horizon road. The road is just 20m from the beachfront. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, bars, minimarts on two sides of the road.
I felt a bit difficult to find public access to the beach when driving from north Horizon Road toward south. Most beachfront restaurants and resorts on Horizon Road blocked the way to the beach. I found some empty land near 7-Eleven, parked the scooter there, and walked to the beach.
You can find a place labeled as “free beach access” next to Baan Pakgasri Hideaway on Google Maps. Otherwise, you’ll likely need to access through a hotel, bar, or restaurant.
Things to do on Klong Nin Beach
Swimming, sunbathing, watching the sunset

Klong Nin Beach is a quiet beach for swimming, sunbathing, and watching the sunset. Like many other beaches around Koh Lanta, some sections of Klong Nin have rocks on the sea bed, but you could easily swim. You can snorkel near the rock at the end of the beach to the left.
Enjoy the drink and meal on the beach

Klong Nin Beach is lined with beachfront restaurants and bars. You can find both local Thai food and some international dishes such as pizzas. Some bars offer happy hours around sunset time, so you can have good deals on drinks and watch the sunset.
Some places also have fire shows in the evening, and stay open until midnight. Some good spots to check out on Klong Nin Beach are Mr. Lek Bar, Rasta Baby, Koh Lanta Beach Club, Otto Bar, The Blue Moon Beach Bar. There are more popular bars at the northern part of Klong Nin Beach.
Having a relaxing massage
Klong Beach is scattered with massage parlors where you can enjoy a relaxing Thai massage and the breeze of the ocean. I recommend trying Thai oil massage for a gentle massage. Traditional Thai massage is good to try but it can be brutal for first-timers.
The price for an hour is usually around 350 baht per hour for body, foot, or shoulder, head, neck massage. The oil massage is 100 baht more.
Check out Nui Beach nearby

Nui Bay is around 350m from the southern end of Klong Nin Beach. You can walk to Nui Bay or drive for a few minutes to get to the beach. It was a secluded beach when I visited with access through a narrow jungle path. It’s now more developed with a big bar on the beach, but still worth a visit!
This 250 long beach is a good spot for swimming and sunbathing. Be aware of the monkey in the jungle behind the beach though! You can also access the beach through the Diamond Cliff restaurant, which is a good spot for meal, drink, and ocean views.
Visit Tham Khao Mai Khew Cave and Tiger Cave
There are several caves in the jungle behind Klong Nin Beach. If you’re into caves, you can visit Tiger Cave and Tham Khao Mai Khew Cave.
Tham Khao Mai Khew Cave is a 10 minute drive east of Klong Nin Beach. It’s good spot for hiker and cave lovers. The entrance ticket is 300 baht. The round trip is around 2 hours.
There are tour guides and headtorch provided. Remember to bring good closed shoes with you as there are steep ladders, rocks, bamboo bridges, and ropes along the way.
Tiger Cave is around 6 minutes drive south of Klong Nin Beach. It’s a good place to visit if you like jungle trekking and adventure. Some people did it within 1.5 hours round trip. The trail is overgrown, though. You can use AllTrails to find the direction rather than Google Maps.
