Klong Khong is a 2.7km long beach, located in the west coast of Koh Lanta Yai island, south of Long Beach and north of Klong Nin Beach. The beach has a peaceful atmosphere with a good range of tourist amenities on the beachfront and its main road area.

Where is Klong Khong Beach, Koh Lanta?
Klong Khong Beach is located on the west coast of Koh Lanta Yai, between the two popular beaches, Long Beach (Phra Ae Beach) and Klong Nin Beach. It’s around 10km south of Sala Dan Pier and the island’s main village.
North of Klong Khong Beach are smaller, secluded beaches called Tricky-Trocky Beach, Beautiful Beach, and Relax Beach. You can walk along the coast from these beaches to get to the northern end of Klong Khong Beach.

How to get to Klong Khong Beach, Koh Lanta?
I visited Klong Khong Beach on a scooter, but you can use tuk tuk, a local songthaew pick up truck to get to the beach. The beach is around 15 minutes drive from Sala Dan Pier.
When you first arrive to Sala Dan pier by speed boats from other islands in Andaman Sea (Phuket, Koh Lipe, Koh Phi Phi, Ao Nang), you can use the songthaew at the pier, ask your hotel to organize the transport for you, or use the transport from the speedboat company.
The taxi in Koh Lanta is quite expensive compared to some other parts of Thailand. You’ll probably need to pay around 200 baht if sharing with other people, or around 700 baht if using private songthaews. If you buy a combination boat ticket, the extra fee for transfer from the pier to hotel is around 100 baht.
The road in Koh Lanta is in quite good condition, and relatively flat. It’s easy to ride a scooter, so if you can consider renting a scooter for 250 baht to 300 baht a day from the pier to get to your hotel in Klong Nin.
I got to the central section of Klong Khong Beach when driving from Sala Dan village by turning right from the main road 4245 to a narrow road toward Moom Sabai and the Green Chilli Restaurant area. I drove to the beach through a resort.
Overview of Klong Khong Beach
Klong Khong Beach is around 1.7km long with curved sections. The beach has shallow water, and fairly fine-grain sand, which is a good spot for swimming for both children and adults.
During my visit, there were small bits of seaweed and natural shell debris scattered along the shore, which is common on tropical beaches.
The shore is lined with trees, so you can have many natural shades. There are lots of restaurants, bars, and massage parlors along the beach. These places offer sunbeds, tables, and chairs for their customers.
The beach has a laid back atmosphere, with just a few people on the beach. It’s located on the west coast, making it a great spot to watch the sun go down.
Things to do in Klong Khong Beach, Koh Lanta
Swimming, sunbathing, chilling, watching the sunset
Klong Khong is a good spot to swim and relax. Like most of the beaches around Koh Lanta, the beach has a different atmosphere at low tide and high tide.
It’s best to swim at high tide (usually morning to early afternoon) when you can enjoy clear water and sandy bottom. At low tide (usually later in the afternoon), you can see rocks on the seabed, and it’s a good time to watch the sunset. You can bring water shoes to avoid slipping on the rocks.
Having a beach massage
Having a relaxing massage on the beach is one of the best things to do in Thailand. There are a handful of massage parlors along the shore of Klong Khong Beach, so you can consider having a Thai massage while visiting the beach.
You can enjoy traditional Thai massage, foot massage, head and shoulder massage, or oil massage. If you want something relaxing and gentle, I recommend trying the oil massage. The price for one hour massage ranges from 350 baht to 500 baht depending which type of massage you’re taking.
Enjoy food and drink from the beachfront restaurants and bars
Klong Khong Beach is lined with cool restaurants and bars. These places are located right under the trees, offering plenty of natural shades.
Many places also have umbrellas for customers. Most places have sunbeds, while some restaurants have bamboo chairs and tables. These restaurants and bars are great spots for watching the sunset. These places often offer happy hour during sunset time.
Some restaurants and bars stay open until 12am, 1am in the early morning, so you can party the whole night. Popular bars on Klong Khong Beach include Freedom Bar, The Sound Shack, Freeway 420 Bar, LightHouse Beach bar, and Fin’s Stoned Bar.
Some places have reggae music, pool tables, and a fire show in the evenings. The dishes on the beach are around 200 baht.
Walk to Beautiful Beach and Secret Beach
North of Klong Khong Beach is a selection of several small peaceful braces such as Beautiful Beach, Secret Beach, and Relax Bay. From the northern end of Klong Khong, you can follow the jungle and coastal trail to reach these beaches for a more secluded vibe.
Stayed at the resort along Klong Khong Beach
Klong Khong is located in the middle central west coast of Koh lanta Yai, which is a good spot to explore north and south parts of the island. The beachfront and its main road are dotted with lovely resorts and hotels, so you can consider staying in Klong Khong for its peaceful atmosphere and central location.
Where to stay in Klong Khong Beach, Koh Lanta?
There are two main areas to stay in Klong Khong Beach, which are the beachfront and the main road 4245. The main road runs parallel with the beach and is around 300m apart. The main road runs from the Sala Dan area, passing Long Beach, Klong Khong, Klong Nin, and Koh Lanta Old Town.
You can pay a little bit more if you want beachfront resorts with direct access to the beach. For cheaper accommodations, you can choose hotels and guest houses along the main road. You can easily walk to the beach from these accommodations.
1. Klong Khong Beachfront
There are plenty of mid-range and budget resorts along the nearly 3km long Klong Khong Beach. Some popular resorts are located on the northern half of the beach.
Staying along the beachfront means you’ll be steps away from the beach. Additionally, you can easily access a range of the beachfront restaurants and bars.
For more shops, convenience stores, motorbike rentals, and tour agencies, you will need to walk to the main road area to access these tourist facilities.

Coco Lanta Resort
This is a popular 3-star beachfront resort in the northern area of Klong Khong Beach. It offers spacious eco-friendly rooms and bungalows with outdoor swimming and direct access to the beach. There is also an onsite restaurant, massage place, and scooter rental services.
You can easily walk to a range of restaurants and bars along the beachfront and along the main road. It’s a good place to stay in Klong Khong for a relaxing beach holiday.
Lanta New Coconut Bungalow
This 3-star beachfront resort is located in the central area of Klong Khong. It has a lovely outdoor pool with sunbeds and beach views. Some bungalows have patios with hammocks and garden views. You can easily walk to shops, restaurants, and 7-Eleven on the main road.
Sea Shell Beach Resort
This seafront accommodation is located in the middle of Klong Khong Beach. It has a nice pool and restaurant overlooking the sea. They offer good breakfast with western and Thai options. There is also a BBQ in the evening. You can easily walk to the main road for more restaurants, and shops.
2. Klong Khong Main Road
The island’s main road 4245 runs from the north coast at Sala Dan village to Klong Nin Beach on the west coast and the old town on the east coast. This road passes Long Beach, Klong Khong, and Klong Nin Beach.
The main road is lined with tourist establishments such as restaurants, travel agencies, bike rentals, massage shops, and minimarts. 7-Eleven is located at the southern part of Klong Khong Beach.
If you’re on a budget and don’t mind a few minutes walk to the beach, you can find some good value for money accommodations around the main road area of Klong Khong Beach.

Sleep In Lanta Resort
This hotel is located in the northern part of Klong Khong along the island’s main road 4245. The hotel offers spacious rooms with a nice garden and outdoor pool. You can walk for a few minutes to a range of restaurants, bars, and the beach. The hotel can help organize tours, boats, taxi, motorbike rentals.
DOX Ko Lanta
This accommodation offers both shared rooms and private rooms. It’s located a bit off the main road, in the northern area of Klong Khong Beach. It’s a good value for money hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. The hotel has an onsite cage, but you can also easily walk to many restaurants nearby.
Lanta Just Come Hotel
This 2-star hotel is located on the main road, around the central area of Klong Khong Beach. It has shared rooms and private rooms with balconies. It’s just a 5 minute walk to the beach across the road. They offer laundry services, and provide beach towels for guests, which are the bonuses.
