Where is Jomtien Beach?
Jomtien Beach is a 6 km long beach located in Pattaya City, 4 km south of Pattaya Beach, and 10km south of Wong Amat Beach. The beach has a more family-friendly and laid-back atmosphere compared to Pattaya Beach.

The beach has coarse golden sand and clean water. It is a popular place for swimming, sunbathing, watching the sunset, and enjoying watersport activities such as windsurfing, paragliding, and jet skiing.
There are lots of coconut trees and palm trees on the shore, right on the sand and the paved boardwalk right next to the sand. The beachfront is lined with sunbeds, umbrellas, and watersport facilities. There are lots of beach vendors walking along the beach selling snacks and drinks.
Running parallel with Jomtien Beach are Jomtien Sai Neung Road (or The Beach Road) and The Second Road. These are the two main roads in the neighborhoods packed with restaurants, bars, shops, and hotels.
These two main roads of Jomtien are connected by smaller alleys called Soi. You can find plenty of tourist amenities in these Sois including go-go bars, night clubs, walking streets, and massage shops.

How to get to Jomtien Beach?
Walking
If you stay in the Jomtien neighborhood, you can easily walk to the beach. There are lots of hotels, guest houses, and apartments located on Jomtien Beach Road, the Second Road, that are only a few hundred meters from the beachfront.
Grab, Bolt, Private Songthaews
If you are staying in other areas such as Pattaya Beach or Wong Amat Beach, you can ride shared services such as Grab and Bolt to get to Jomtien Beach. This is a quick and private way to reach the beach.
A Grab Bike ride from North Pattaya Beach to Jomtien Beach is around 90 baht in the peak hour. It is a little more expensive if you use Grab Taxi.
Motobike Taxi
If you are a solo traveler, you can consider using motorbike taxi, which is one of the popular transports in Pattaya along with songthaews and regular taxis. You can see motorbike taxi drivers in orange shirts all around Pattaya Beach.
When using their services, you should ask and bargain the price before heading off to the destination. If you don’t want to negotiate, you can use Grab Bike. Just install the App and request a motorbike driver from there. I used it many times. It is a quick and safe way to get around the city.
Baht Bus
It is possible to get to Jomtien from Pattaya Beach by Baht Bus. This is local public songthaews (pickup trucks with two seating rows in the back) running on some fixed routes in Pattaya City including Pattaya Beach and Jomtien.
From Pattaya Beach, you can get in the Baht Bus at the junction of Second Road and South Pattaya Road. The bus will run along Thappraya Road then Jomtien Beach Road. You can ask the driver to stop anywhere you want along the route. The price is 10 baht.
To get back to Pattaya Beach from Jomtien Beach, you can wait for the Baht Bus anywhere along the Beach Road or Thappraya Road.
What to do at Jomtien Beach
Swimming

Jomtien Beach may not be one of the best beaches in Thailand, but it’s a great spot for swimming. The beach has golden sand, calm water, and some designated swimming areas. It is also a kid-friendly beach.
You can rent beach chairs and sun loungers easily on the beach, enjoy sunbathing and swimming. There are also lots of vendors on the beach selling drinks and meals.
WaterSport Activities

Like Pattaya Beach, there are plenty of watersport activities in Jomtien beach which include windsurfing, paragliding, and jet skiing. There are several rental services on the beach where you can rent water equipment or take a surfing lesson to explore the coastline.
Watching the sunset

Jomtien Beach is a popular place to watch the sunset. Lots of locals and tourists gather on the beach and on the sand watching sunset in the late afternoon hours. The calm sea, coconut trees, the high buildings, and golden sky create a beautiful atmosphere.
Jomtien Night Market

Jomtien Night Market is a popular point of interest along Jomtien Beach. This night market is located right on the Beach Road at the intersection with Kwan Mueang Road. The market is open every night and is a great place to try delicious Thai street food.
Jomtien Night Market, in my opinion, has many more good food options than the night markets in Pattaya Beach. It also has bar areas and shops selling clothes, hats, sandals, souvenirs…
Enjoy relaxing nightlife

Jomtien has a more relaxing nightlife scene compared to Pattaya Beach. You can find many girly bars, go-go bars, massage salons, and night clubs on the northern part of the Beach, from Jomtien Soi 1 to Jomtien Soi 7. These small alleys connect the Beach Road and Second Road together.
You can have many beer bars on Rompho Complex and Thappraya Road. Jomtien is also known for its vibrant gay scenes, where you can find several gay bars on Jomtien Walking Street and Thappraya Road.
Pattaya Park (water park, tower, and night market)
Pattaya Water Park is a family-friendly attraction located just north of Jomtien Beach. The water park is part of the resort, and you can enter for a reasonable price (only 200 baht).
Within the complex, you can check out the observation deck and three revolving restaurants of Pattaya Park Tower for meals and stunning views of the sea and the city.
The local Pattaya Park Night Market is also located near the water park and the tower. This is another nightspot for street food and souvenirs.
Pattaya Floating Market
This market is located on Sukhumvit Road close to Jomtien Beach. This is a great place to experience the local ways of trading on the river. I visited the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Bangkok and highly recommend visiting one of the floating markets in Thailand including the one in Pattaya.
You can watch shops and boat vendors selling traditional Thai handicrafts, clothing, souvenirs, and local products. You can take the ride on the traditional wooden boat along the market’s canals to explore the market.
Underwater World Pattaya
This is a kid-friendly attraction located on Sukhumvit Road, within a short drive from Jomtien. You can explore marine life through its 105-meter-long underwater tunnel and over 5,000 marine animals across various themed zones.
