Hinkong Beach, also known as Ao Hin Kong, or just Hin Kong Beach, is 1.6km long beach on the north east coast of Koh Yao Yai. The beach has a secluded atmosphere and is home to several popular resorts such as Anantara and Koh Yao Yai Village Beach Resort.
The beach is located close to one of the island’s main piers, Chong Lard Pier, which is convenient for speed boats from/ to other islands in the Andaman Sea such as Phuket, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lipe, or Koh Lanta.
Hin Kong Beach has fine white sand and calm water, good for swimming, chilling, and taking leisure walks along the beach. The shore is lined with palm trees and tropical trees. The beach has beautiful views of Koh Rang Nok and Koh Luk Ko island in front of it.
The middle of Hin Kong Beach is Hin Kong Pier, where you can take long tail boats to the nearby island. The Anantara resort occupied a large section of the northern beach, Baan Taranya Resort in the middle, and Koh Yao Yai Village.
Where is Hinkong Beach, Koh Yao Yai?

Hin Kong Beach is located on the north eastern coast of Koh Yao Yai. Hin Kong is a 1.6km long beach that runs parallel with the island’s main road, around 500m apart.
Hin Kong is around 6km south of Chong Lard Pier and Laem Haad Beach, which are popular points of interest on the northern coast of Yao Yai island.
Hin Kong is around 12km north of Loh Pared Beach and Laem Yai Pier, which are popular areas on the southern coast of Koh Yao Yai.

How to get to Hinkong Beach, Koh Yao Yai?
The best way to get to Hin Kong Beach is by scooter. It’s a cheap way to explore Koh Yao Yai island and to visit Hin Kong Beach. The island’s road is in good condition with paved roads and relatively flat, so it’s quite easy to drive around. Don’t venture off the main road if you’re not familiar with the terrain.
You can rent a scooter at popular areas such as Chong Lard Pier, Loh Pared Beach, or Loh Jark beach. There are several scooter rental shops in these areas or you can ask your hotel to organize the renting for you. The price is usually from 250-300 baht per day.
If you arrive at one of the island’s 4 main piers (Chong Lard, Laem Yai, Klong Hia, or Loh Jark), you can get a pick up truck songthaew from the piers to get to your hotel in Hin Kong. Many boat companies offer taxi transfers to get to your hotel if you buy a combo ticket.
Koh Yao Yai is not a touristy island, there are not always pick up trucks at the pier, so to make sure you have a ride to get to your hotel, you can ask your hotel to arrange transportation for you in advance.
Hin Kong Beach is around 5 minutes drive from the island’s main road. You can put Hin Kong Pier on Google Maps to get to the central area of the beach.
Things to do at Hinkong Beach, Koh Yao Yai?
Swimming, chilling, strolling along the beach


Like many beaches around Koh Yao Yai, you can swim at Hin Kong Beach at high tide. At low tide the water can go 400-500 m away from the shore, and is not ideal for swimming. You can see muddy paths on the seabeds.
Most resorts along the beach have swimming pools, so you can swim both at their pools or the sea. These resorts offer sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach for the guests.
The beach has a peaceful atmosphere and nice views of the nearby islands, which makes it a good spot for relaxing and unwind. You can take a long stroll along the beach.
Watching the sun rise and sun set
Located on the east coast of Koh Yao Yai, Hin Kong is a great spot to watch the sun rise. If you can wake up early, don’t miss the chance to see the sun rise behind the nearby islands.
Hin Kong is not the best place on Yao Yai to watch the sun set, but a relaxing place to visit during the late afternoon. You can enjoy the cool refreshing air from the ocean, quiet atmosphere, and see the locals playing at the beach.

Hin Kong Pier, in the middle of the beach is a good spot for walking around, and taking photos. It’s a fishing pier, and you can see local fishermen boats on two sides of the piers. From the pier, you can have closer views of Ko Rang Nok island and the shore of Hin Kong Beach.
The pier has several local restaurants, massage shops, and travel agencies. You can check out The Pier Yao Yai restaurant at Baan Taranya Resort, or the RungTawan Restaurant and the Sea Flower restaurant.
Where to stay in Hinkong Beach: Best areas and Hotels

The two best areas to stay in Hin Kong are the beachfront area and the main road area. There are three large resorts along the beach and several smaller hotels and guests along the main road of Ban Hin Kong Village.
If you want to stay right next to the beach and you’re looking for mid-range and luxury hotels, you can stay in the beachfront area. If you’re on a budget, you can find some good accommodation in the village.
1. Best Hotels in Hinkong Beach
Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas

This 5-star luxury hotel occupied a large section of the northern side of Hinkong Beach. It’s a great place for honeymooners and families who want to relax and unwind. The resort has a nice pool overlooking the beach with sunbeds and umbrellas.
The hotel has all facilities for all comfortable stay such as beachfront restaurant, spa services, children’s club, and spacious rooms. You can choose the beachfront villas for the best experiences.
Koh Yao Yai Village
This 4-star hotel is located at the southern end of Hin Kong Beach. It has a large hotel with a swimming pool, beachfront restaurants/bar, massage services, and comfortable rooms. The resort has shuttle services to Laem Haad Beach. You can use the hotel’s paddle boards and kayaks for free.
Baan Taranya Koh Yao Yai Resort

This 4-star mid-range hotel is located in the middle area of Hin Kong Beach, right next to Hin Kong Pier. It has a beautiful ground with green tropical trees, a swimming pool, and comfortable bed rooms.
The hotel has a nice beachfront restaurant, but there are also a handful of lovely restaurants outside of the hotel and on the main road, within a short scooter ride away.
2. Best Hotels in Hin Kong village/ Main road
Greenview Room and Restaurant
This budget-friendly guest house is located on the island’s main road around 500m from Hin Kong Beach. It has clean rooms with basic facilities, which are good for budget travelers.
You can rent a scooter to explore the island. One of the island’s two main 7-Eleven stores is located 10 minutes drive from the hotel.
Klongbon Garden Home Koh Yao Yai
This small guest house is located on the main road in Klong Born Village, midway between Laem Haad Beach and HinKong Beach. The hotel has good-size rooms and a peaceful environment. Like all other places around the island, it’s recommended to rent a scooter if you want to do beach hopping.
Farm House kohyaoyai
This is budget accommodation that offers both private rooms and bunk beds. It’s a good spot for solo travelers and backpackers in a relatively good location to explore both the north and south part of Yao Yai on a scooter.
